Four years, endless practices, and a lifetime of memories. Bella Beatty, JJ Eggleton, Emerson
Blank, Sabine Smith, Sloan Larkin, Caitlin Roney, Dax Marshall, Mia Lolli, and Angeline
Schmutz carried their heads high on senior night, walking out onto their home court one final
time. The 2025 varsity volleyball season wasn’t about wins or losses; it was about the
community built and relationships strengthened by the sport they all know and love. The team
continuously proved that success comes from great leadership and unity, not how many points
are on the scoreboard. For these girls, it wasn’t just bumping, setting, and spiking. The season
was about growth. They grew into the amazing people that they are today through their
countless hours together, challenges, and victories. Volleyball has taught them the value of
resilience, teamwork, and effort, and they will take that with them as they move forward into the
next exciting stages of their lives.
Park City women’s varsity volleyball finished 1st in 4A region 10 and had an 18-12 overall
record and a 13-1 region record. However, while the team’s accomplishments this season were
impressive, it was the memories off the court that made it count. Many seniors stated that their
favorite volleyball memory from this season was senior night, looking out into the overwhelming
student section filled to the brim with supporting friends and family as that final ball hit the floor.
That unforgettable night was just one of the many in these girls’ volleyball journey. While
moments like these were the highlights, it was the daily practices, games, and teamwork that
truly shaped them into the strong, kind leaders they have become. One of our incredible
captains, Sabine, states that her style of leading changed by learning to be able to “play into
everybody’s different personalities…it’s just like recognizing all the different parts of a team that
everybody needs to help the team come together.” QUOTE. Beyond growing themselves, these
extraordinary seniors never failed to make each person on the volleyball team feel welcome and
included. They inspired the younger players, showing them what real sportsmanship and
resilience can look like.
As the gym emptied and the noise faded, it became clear just how much these seniors brought
to the team. Next season will feel emptier without them, yet they have left their legacy for the
players behind them to follow in their footsteps. The 2025 varsity team will leave an impact on
Park City for a very long time. It is heartbreaking to see them go, but also exciting knowing that
they have amazing things coming their way. A few want to play in college, and they will have a
loving and supportive cheering section, even if it’s from across the country. From that very first
day running PC Hill to the program-wide group hug on senior night, these girls are truly ones to
remember. For the underclassmen, practices will go on and games will be played. For the
upperclassmen, this is the end of a chapter. This season didn’t just shape the 9 graduates; it
shaped the team as a whole. While the gym may be quieter now without their infectious laughs
and positive attitudes, the lessons and love that these seniors have given this program will echo
through Park City volleyball for years to come.
