Our girl’s soccer team here in Park City has had a phenomenal season this year and made it to finals against Green Canyon. We sadly lost the game but it is evident our team won in heart. These Park City soccer girls have so much love and compassion for this sport it makes it difficult for everyone else not to enjoy this sport just as much as these girls do.
FINALS OVERVIEW
The final game was full of many emotions. The final was against Green Canyon who was 19-1 overall and 9-1 in their region, they are ranked #2 in Utah right behind Lone Peak who was #1, and Park City finished as #11 in Utah. Green Canyon’s coaches led them along their very successful journey, their head coach was Kirt Sandler and assistant coach Scott Jensen.
SENIORS
Our seniors led our team through many triumphs and victories. Coach Anthony had lots to say about them, “To our seniors, you are an incredible collection of personalities and I know your journey through soccer at PCHS was a complicated one. For you to emerge from the fire, the trials and tribulations, and make the mark on the program that you have is something you should be eternally proud of. You represented your team, the program, your school, and the community with tremendous grace and integrity. Thank you Remy, Kendall, Hazel, Leah, Sophie, Lulu, Stevie, Riley and Salem!” Thank you to our seniors who were one of the many reasons why our season was so memorable and successful.
HONORABLE MENTION
The top performer was Lauren Kindt with 14 goals and 10 assists. Lauren is a junior at Park City High School and a varsity star. Lauren is in class 2025 and was number 18 on the field playing the positions forward and midfield. She is a very coachable person with a great attitude.
She excelled in both her soccer career and her academic career. She consistently demonstrates remarkable skills, leadership, and dedication on the field. Her ability to score goals, create opportunities, and contribute to the overall success of the team has truly been commendable. Lauren’s talent and hard work have not gone unnoticed.
CAPTAINS
Without these two valuable captains, Kendall Hassel and Remy Rogers, this Park City team wouldn’t be as successful and unified as it was. They left an enormous impact on this team leading them to all of their victories and successes throughout their season. These seniors at Park City High School walked in and out of practices and games with a smile on their faces whether win or lose. Their happy energy is extremely contagious to all the other players.
Kendall Hassel was a speedy and key midfield player during this season with 5 overall goals and 8 assists. Remy Rogers, the team’s leading centerback, was great with possession and scored 2 goals. These two seniors put in great effort ensuring the team was unified. They put their best skills on the field and allowed each player to have a place on the field and ensure all the players were putting their best foot forward.
COACH ANTHONY
Anthony was the head coach for Park City and he was a very memorable and extraordinary coach. Anthony always talked about leaving it on the field which he believes Park City did in the final. Anthony stated, “I saw leadership, joy, energy, a shared commitment to work for each other, to play for each other, and a celebration of being part of something bigger than themselves.” This quote shows how Anthony was as a coach and how he had so much compassion and dedication for our team.
Overall Park City fought for the title of Champions which was sadly lost, but to many others, we won and overcame a lot of obstacles and challenges throughout our season.
