Staff writer Blake Solomon set out on a mission to discover one of the world’s greatest questions: what is the best holiday Starbucks drink?? Here’s her and guest appearance Ella Ehrich’s reviews of each new holiday Starbucks drink:
Drink 1: The Iced Gingerbread Oatmilk Chai
Starting the review, this was a stellar drink. The initial taste of the pumpkin spice topping, paired with the chai is super cozy, refreshing, and a sweet way to begin the day.
Blake: 8/10
Ella: 10/10
Drink 2: Peppermint Mocha
Super different from the previous drink, the peppermint mocha was equally as delicious. The warm chocolatey coffee tasted like a gourmet hot chocolate, and the added chocolate chips made the drink extra festive.
Blake: 9.8/10
Ella: 7.9/10
Drink 3: Iced Carmel Brulee Latte
The classic caramel brulee latte is a customer favorite around the holiday season and Ella and I couldn’t agree more. After so much sweetness, we decided to order this with two fewer pumps of sweetener, making it a yummy, refreshing, and slightly more sophisticated drink than the prior ones. We also noticed that it tasted very similar to a Caramel Macchiato which is served year round.
Blake: 7/10
Ella: 7/10
Drink 4: Chestnut Praline Latte
Unlike anything I have ever tasted before, the chestnut praline latte brought a nutty flavor to coffee that was very unique and delicious. As per usual the sweetness was very overpowering but did not take away from the yummy flavor. I believe this was a great drink to try, but not something I would order again. Ella loved this drink, really enjoyed the uniqueness, and said she would order it again and highly recommends people try it.
Blake: 5/10
Ella: 9/10
Drink 5: Iced Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte
Be ready because this drink leads to two very differing opinions. I found this drink delicious. I loved the addition of festive sprinkles on top and the sugar cookie flavor was very apparent as well as very delicious. Ella on the other hand thought the sugar cookie flavor tasted incredibly artificial, and she was not a fan of the choice of almond milk. Maybe it’s just one of those “either you love it or you hate it” beverages.
Blake: 10/10
Ella: 3/10
Drink 6: Gingerbread Oatmilk Latte
Going out with a bang this was Ella and I’s favorite drink of all. The gingerbread has a very good flavor, and the oat milk gives the comforting flavor of the gingerbread. On top of that, the sweetness was not too overpowering. This is an order again comfort drink, perfect for the holidays.
Blake: 10/10
