The idea of a high school romance might be a bit of a long shot, but I’m not writing this to tell you that the relationship you are in is pointless, and I’m not writing this to make you feel that one day you will have that picture-perfect romance. Because both aren’t true.

 Once I thought that love was for the lucky and that if you wait and wait, maybe love will show up and bring its happiness with it. But unfortunately, that’s not true either. No one person can give you happiness. This might be a shocker, but it is a choice. I know you may be doubting me, but yes, you can choose happiness. The relationship that you are in may give you a short burst of happiness, but true happiness lies within yourself, and you have to find it. For once in your life, don’t think about others, what they want, or what they think, because finding what you truly want is up to you. If you are single, don’t believe that to be happy, you need to find somebody to give you their happiness and love, because, trust me, sometimes it can do quite the opposite. 

I’m not here to tell you how to live your life or even that I know it all (because I definitely don’t). But I do hope that you keep striving for what you want. Maybe the relationship that you are in can’t give you it all, but that does not mean that you’ll never get it. So hey, smile, laugh, cry, and keep searching for your own happiness before you try and find it in someone else.
