STUCO Christmas Box Fundraiser

Student Council (STUCO) is holding several fundraising events before Winter Break.  The proceeds from these events will go to the Christmas Box organization.  Christmas Box supports children who have been abused, neglected, or are homeless, and helps them celebrate Christmas.  The donations will benefit children in the Park City and wider Salt Lake area.

STUCO is hosting a basketball game between the girls’ team and a team of teachers on Monday, at 7:00 pm.  All proceeds will go toward the fundraiser.  Admission costs five dollars, but students can pay more to penalize teachers with humorous handicaps, such as forcing them to wear oven mitts during the game.

During second period on Tuesday, there will be a Miner Minute, as STUCO tries to collect as much money as possible in one minute.  STUCO representatives will run around the school to gather money while the school band plays.

The school is working with the local Starbucks and Silver King.  The restaurants are posting and handing out QR codes to encourage locals to donate.

Earlier on December 8, STUCO also worked with Café Zupas to have a fundraising night.  Twenty-five percent of the profits from every purchase by a Park City High School student was donated.

There are QR codes posted around the school that lead to a donation page.  Although there is a customization option, the standard donations range from five to one hundred and fifty dollars.  Paying one hundred fifty dollars sponsors a child’s entire Christmas, and smaller donations pay for specific gifts/necessities.  The donation can be a one-time gift or a recurring donation.

STUCO is also organizing a spirit week starting next Monday.  Monday is holiday pajamas-themed, Tuesday is plaid-themed, Wednesday is red vs. green day, Thursday is athletes vs. mathletes day, and Friday is ugly sweater day.
