PCHS Teacher’s Winter Breaks

2020 came to a close at PCHS while students, teachers, and administrators were on Winter Break. Teachers capitalized on the two week off period to catch up on work, see family, and relax.

This year, in particular, has been very hard on teachers. They have had to create multiple lesson plans while synchronizing their in-person and online classes. Many teachers have played catch-up to stay on top of all of their work, so this break was well needed and well deserved.

English teacher Kelly Yeates stated, “It was the perfect balance between, get a little work done, have a little relaxation, and binge all of my favorites.”

“It was the first time this year I felt caught up,” stated Yeates, “In both work life and regular life.”

Yeates was also very excited to spend time with her family over break after catching up on her work. “I was able to quarantine. My daughter and my husband were also able to quarantine so that we could see my mother. It was nice to have time together.”

Other teachers, like English teacher Julie Hooker, also got to relax over break. She enjoyed her time at home but is excited to be back with her students. Hooker also commented on how the break was not quite long enough.

Teachers, students, and administrators returned to school this week to start quarter 3 of the school year. Our next break is Martin Luther King Day, a three-day weekend over the 16th, 17th, and 18th.
